Rapper NBA YoungBoy thanks Trump for pardon on gun charges, freeing him to focus on family and music career.
Louisiana rapper NBA YoungBoy, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, is breathing a sigh of relief after President Donald Trump granted him a pardon for a federal gun conviction. The artist, known for his chart-topping albums, expressed gratitude on Instagram, saying the pardon allows him to focus on his roles as a man, father, and artist. "This moment means a lot," he wrote, emphasizing a fresh start.
Gaulden faced sentencing last year in Utah for possessing firearms as a convicted felon, including a Glock 21, a Masterpiece Arms 9mm, and a Sig Sauer found at his Utah home. A plea deal resolved both state and federal charges, landing him a 23-month sentence, five years of probation, and a $200,000 fine. Released from prison in March 2025 and recently free from home confinement, the pardon now lifts his probation obligations, including drug testing, according to his attorney, Drew Findling.
The rapper also faced scrutiny for a prescription drug fraud operation at his Utah residence, pleading guilty in November with a $25,000 fine but no additional prison time. With four No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 and a Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, Gaulden is now gearing up for a major U.S. arena tour, ready to channel his energy into family and music.

Looks like NBA YoungBoy's got a new rhyme to spit: 'From Baton Rouge to Utah's range, Trump's pardon gave me change!' While Gaulden's trading jail bars for music charts, you have to wonder if his next hit will be a ballad about dodging probation officers or a banger about second chances. Either way, this pardon’s got more plot twists than a rap video.
