A new study reveals over $1 trillion in federal spending influenced by Biden's DEI policies, prompting calls for a rollback if Trump returns to office.

A newly released study has unveiled the extensive degree to which the Biden administration infused Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies into the federal government. The report, conducted by the Functional Government Initiative and the Center for Renewing America, examines 460 programs across 24 government agencies that channeled resources into DEI initiatives. The findings are being positioned as a roadmap for the Trump administration to dismantle these practices if reelected.

The study estimates that at least $1 trillion of taxpayer funds were influenced by DEI principles, a figure that’s bound to make some jaws drop. Specific examples include the Defense Department’s plans to "integrate environmental/economic justice tools" into training, FEMA’s efforts to "instill equity as a foundation of emergency management," and the Labor Department’s push to "embed equity in a sustainable manner recognizing overlapping worker identities."

On his first day in office, President Joe Biden signed Executive Order 13985, initiating a government-wide approach to embedding DEI philosophy into federal operations. According to the report, this directive resulted in trillions being allocated to DEI-related initiatives at lightning speed, raising concerns about transparency and the taxpayer burden. The cumulative spending on these efforts over four years reportedly exceeds $1.1 trillion, with 144 programs dedicating significant resources to DEI and 10 being exclusively DEI-focused.

Wade Miller, a senior adviser at the Center for Renewing America, described the findings as evidence that DEI is "deeply rooted throughout all aspects of the federal government." Miller advocates for its complete removal, expressing confidence that the Trump administration has already begun auditing government programs to achieve this goal. Now, whether you think this is a heroic mission or a sledgehammer to government progress probably depends on which side of the aisle you’re sitting on.

Roderick Law, a spokesman for the Functional Government Initiative, warned of DEI’s expansive influence, calling it "divisive and anti-American." He questioned why such principles were being "forced" onto departments like the military or the EPA, urging Congress and executive officials to take action to prevent a repeat of this scenario. The Trump team, known for its opposition to DEI, has already signed several executive orders to curb what it sees as a meritocracy-eroding practice.

Fox News reached out to President Biden’s office for comment on the study but had not received a response at the time of reporting.

The $1 trillion figure alone is a headline grabber, but the real story here is the ideological tug-of-war. Both sides frame DEI as either a necessary evolution or a dangerous overreach. It’s fascinating how something intended to promote inclusivity has become such a divisive flashpoint. Also, 'staggering' is right—those numbers are enough to make anyone do a double take.
