Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem appoints Todd Lyons and Madison Sheahan to lead ICE, emphasizing accountability and a tougher stance on immigration under the Trump administration.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has appointed new leadership to helm U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), aiming to restore what she calls a "culture of accountability and results" under the Trump administration. Announcing the appointments on Sunday, Noem named Todd Lyons as Acting ICE Director and Madison Sheahan as Deputy Director.
"For the past four years, our brave men and women of ICE were barred from doing their jobs," Noem stated, taking a pointed jab at the Biden administration. She emphasized that Lyons and Sheahan are leaders ready to "target, arrest, and deport illegal aliens," fulfilling what she described as the American people's mandate.
Lyons, currently the acting executive associate director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), boasts an impressive career trajectory. He's held roles such as Assistant Director of Field Operations for ERO, overseeing 25 field offices across the U.S. Before joining ICE in 2007, Lyons served in the U.S. Air Force and later transitioned to civilian law enforcement in Florida. His track record screams "career overachiever," if you ask me.
Meanwhile, Sheahan brings a unique flair to the role, having recently served as Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. There, she managed a $280 million budget and led over 800 employees. Sheahan's resume also includes establishing the Special Operations Group to enhance public safety during major events like Mardi Gras and the Super Bowl. It’s not every day you see someone go from managing wildlife to tackling immigration enforcement, but hey, versatility is key!
Sheahan also has a long-standing working relationship with Noem, having held various leadership positions during Noem’s time as South Dakota Governor. Clearly, this is a team that knows how to play to its strengths.
Noem herself has been a vocal advocate for border security since transitioning from being South Dakota's Governor to leading the Department of Homeland Security. Under her leadership, the administration has resumed border wall construction, deployed the military to assist with border enforcement, and discontinued Biden-era parole programs. Clearly, she’s not here to make small moves; she’s swinging for the fences.
Both Lyons and Sheahan declined to comment on their new roles when contacted by Fox News Digital, but their résumés suggest they’re ready to take on the challenges ahead. With Noem steering the ship, it’s clear this administration is doubling down on its immigration priorities.

Noem’s decision to appoint leaders with such diverse backgrounds—one steeped in law enforcement and the other in wildlife management—is a bold move. It’s like drafting a football team where one player’s a quarterback and the other’s a chess champion. Will it pay off? Only time will tell, but I have to admit, it’s intriguing to see how this dynamic duo will tackle ICE's challenges.
