Oklahoma's Superintendent Ryan Walters and singer Lee Greenwood distribute Trump-endorsed 'God Bless the USA' Bibles, combining scripture and U.S. founding documents, to classrooms statewide.

Oklahoma's Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters has teamed up with country singer Lee Greenwood to roll out Trump-endorsed "God Bless the USA" Bibles to classrooms statewide. The initiative is inspired by Greenwood's patriotic anthem and aims to imbue education with what they see as essential Judeo-Christian values.

These unique Bibles feature the King James interpretation alongside texts of the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and other historical documents. Former President Donald Trump endorsed the Bible during his 2024 campaign, emphasizing its spiritual and patriotic importance with statements like, "You have to have it, for your heart, for your soul." In a promotional video, Trump doubled down, urging Americans to "make America pray again."

Walters, a Republican, explained in an interview that the project is funded entirely through donations, ensuring no cost to taxpayers. Over 500 Bibles have already made their way into Oklahoma classrooms. Walters says the motivation is to combat what he calls "state-sponsored atheism," arguing that removing biblical references from American history is tantamount to pushing a secular agenda.

"Just teach history," Walters stated. "When George Washington talks about the Bible, talk about the Bible. When the pilgrims referenced the Bible, teach that. Scrubbing these mentions isn't neutrality; it's rewriting history." He maintains the campaign is about empowering students with knowledge to form their own perspectives, not imposing religion.

Lee Greenwood, deeply moved by Walters' advocacy, joined the effort as a "firm believer and faithful Christian." Greenwood noted the campaign has attracted widespread support, with corporate partners exploring bulk purchases of the Bibles. Greenwood shared that people frequently thank him at tours and events, adding, "Nobody is being shy about their support for this endeavor."

Well, Oklahoma sure knows how to stir the pot. Dropping Trump-endorsed Bibles into classrooms feels like a bold mix of patriotism and religion—two things that rarely come without controversy. It's fascinating how Walters frames this as a fight against 'state-sponsored atheism.' But honestly, I can't help but wonder: Will kids focus more on the Bible's verses or on the Declaration of Independence tucked inside? Either way, Greenwood's involvement adds a star-spangled touch that might win over skeptics—or just spark louder debates.
