Prince Harry’s Court Loss and Interview Fail to Disrupt United Royal Family Amid VE Day

Prince Harry's court loss and explosive interview aren't shaking the royal family's united front as they focus on VE Day celebrations and honoring veterans.
The royal family is sticking together after Prince Harry once again aired his grievances in the public eye. On Monday, King Charles and Queen Camilla made a public appearance at the Queen Victoria Memorial outside Buckingham Palace, marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day (VE Day), a significant event commemorating the end of WWII in Europe.
Despite Harry's latest interview and legal defeat over his security arrangements, a palace aide made it clear that the royal family is "fully focused" on honoring the wartime generation this week. The message: not even royal drama will distract from the veterans’ moment in the sun. Honestly, if you can’t upstage VE Day, maybe it’s time to take a breather from the headlines.
The aide emphasized that the royal family, including the king, queen, and other senior royals, are united in celebrating and remembering the sacrifices of those who served during the war. They see this as an enduring example for everyone, and the focus this week is all about gratitude and remembrance.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry, who recently lost his appeal to have his police protection restored after stepping back from royal duties, expressed his wish to reconcile with his family. He stated he doesn't want to continue fighting, noting the strain the security dispute has put on his relationship with King Charles, who is currently battling cancer. Harry also mentioned that the court's verdict effectively prevents him from safely bringing his family back to the UK.
Harry has been living in California since 2020 and released his memoir "Spare" in 2023, which didn’t exactly bring the House of Windsor closer together. His candid revelations about family tensions have only added fuel to the royal fire.
Despite these personal dramas, the royals are following Queen Elizabeth II’s classic mantra: keep calm and carry on. During the VE Day event, King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, Kate Middleton, their children, and other senior royals gathered with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and veterans from the Royal British Legion to honor the occasion.
King Charles, a former Royal Navy officer and now the head of the armed forces, has made supporting the military a central mission for the family. Harry, for his part, served in the British Army for a decade but lost his honorary titles after stepping back from royal life with Meghan Markle.
In a recent interview, Harry reiterated his desire for reconciliation, saying, "Life is precious… It would be nice to reconcile." Meghan showed her support by posting a family photo on Instagram, signaling unity on their side of the Atlantic.
Harry argued that his security arrangements could be resolved if King Charles allowed independent experts to weigh in, claiming that palace officials have been blocking a fair review. He called on political leaders to step in, but the courts have consistently ruled against him. To add insult to injury, Harry now faces a hefty legal bill for both the government’s and his own lawyers’ fees. Royal drama may be free to watch, but it’s definitely not free to star in.

You’ve got to hand it to the royals: nothing says ‘united front’ like smiling through family drama at a national celebration. If only my family could keep it together that well at Thanksgiving! Also, Harry’s security saga is starting to sound like a plotline from ‘The Crown’ that even Netflix would reject for being too on the nose.
