MoveOn warns Democratic lawmakers that progressive voters are frustrated with the party’s weak opposition to Trump, urging bold, unified action and fresh leadership amid plummeting approval ratings.

MoveOn, one of the largest progressive grassroots organizations in the U.S., has issued a strong warning to Democratic lawmakers: their liberal base has reached a "boiling point" over how the party is handling its opposition to former President Donald Trump’s agenda.

In a memo sent to Democratic members of Congress last week, Rahna Epting, Executive Director of MoveOn Civic Action, expressed mounting frustration among progressive voters. "Yes, our members' frustrations are at a boiling point," Epting wrote, calling for a more unified and aggressive strategy to counter Trump’s policies.

The memo comes amidst growing divisions within the Democratic Party. Some members have even called for Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to step down after he supported a Republican-authored government spending bill earlier this month. Clearly, the cracks in the party aren’t going unnoticed by its base.

Epting didn’t mince words about the stakes, describing Trump’s governance as dangerous and abnormal. She also took aim at billionaire Elon Musk, warning that their policies would lead to the destruction of key social programs like Medicaid and Social Security, as well as funding cuts for cancer research and international aid.

"Nothing about this moment is normal," Epting stressed, adding, "There is no way to defeat President Trump and win back the confidence of the American people if we cede ground." It’s fair to say that MoveOn isn’t here for any passive resistance strategies. They’re calling for bold action, not a wait-and-see approach.

To bolster their case, the memo pointed to the Democratic Party’s dismal approval ratings. According to recent CNN and NBC polls, favorability for the party has sunk to historic lows of 29% and 27%, respectively. Ouch. That’s a level of public trust that screams "urgent intervention needed."

MoveOn’s solution? Epting laid out a battle plan: adopt a bold, unified opposition, showcase fresh voices within the party, and stop relying on outdated tactics. She also urged Democrats to draw sharp contrasts between their values and Trump’s policies while highlighting how figures like Musk and Trump directly impact everyday lives.

"It’s imperative for us to draw an undeniably sharp contrast that we aren’t only fighting against the worst of Trump’s policies but for a government that works for the people, not corrupt billionaires," Epting emphasized. Talk about a rallying cry.

The memo also encouraged Democrats to "throw some punches" in the court of public opinion and elevate new Congressional voices to re-energize the party. It’s clear that MoveOn believes this is a make-or-break moment for the Democratic Party, and they’re not holding back.

Fox News Digital reached out to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries for their take on the memo, but as of now, no responses have been received. Perhaps they’re busy figuring out their next move—after all, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

It’s fascinating how the frustration of the progressive base is being directed not just at Trump but also at the Democrats themselves. The call for fresh voices and bold action seems like a veiled critique of the party’s aging leadership. Schumer might be feeling the heat, and honestly, it’s about time someone shook up the status quo. The line about 'throwing punches'—now there’s an image that sticks!
