Putin rejects Trump’s Vatican peace talk proposal, as Kremlin calls him emotional. Tensions rise with Ukraine after massive drone strike.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has shot down President Donald Trump’s proposal to hold Russia-Ukraine peace talks at the Vatican, a suggestion inspired by Pope Leo XIV. Special Envoy Keith Kellogg revealed on Tuesday that Moscow rejected the idea, hinting that Geneva might be the next venue for negotiations. However, with Russia still drafting its terms, the timeline for talks remains murky.
Trump didn’t hold back, taking to Truth Social to warn Putin he’s "playing with fire." He claimed his influence has shielded Russia from severe consequences, but cautioned that Putin’s aggression could lead to Russia’s downfall. This came after Russia’s massive drone and missile attack on Ukraine, the largest in the three-year conflict, which Trump called "crazy" and senseless.
Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy also criticized Moscow, accusing it of playing games with its relentless assaults. Trump, however, didn’t spare Zelenskyy either, slamming him for inflammatory rhetoric that "causes problems." The Kremlin, in turn, labeled Trump’s outbursts as "emotional," while appreciating his role in kickstarting negotiations.
As tensions flare, both sides continue to trade barbs and prisoners, with no clear path to peace in sight.

Looks like Putin’s playing chess while Trump’s throwing darts at a world map, hoping one lands on peace. And Zelenskyy? He’s just dodging drones and Trump’s tweets. If the Vatican’s out, maybe they’ll try a neutral spot—like the moon, where no one’s blowing up civilians.
