Aaron Rodgers enters free agency amid speculation about joining the Raiders. Maxx Crosby voices support, as both teams look to rebound from tough NFL seasons.

Aaron Rodgers is set to hit the free agency market this offseason, and the buzz around his future is already palpable. Although he’ll turn 42 by the tail end of the 2025 season, teams are reportedly intrigued by what the four-time MVP can still bring to the table.

Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby didn’t shy away from expressing his hopes to see Rodgers in silver and black. Speaking on his podcast, Crosby showed faith in Rodgers’ ability to bounce back after recovering from the Achilles injury that sidelined him early in the 2023 season. Confidence paired with a bit of optimism—classic Raiders move.

"First year after an Achilles is one of the hardest things to do," Crosby remarked. "I think with all the doubt, all the negativity around Aaron Rodgers—‘Oh, he needs to retire,’ things like that—he’s getting cut by the Jets, I think he’s going to come back and have a... I know he’s 42 or 41, but I think he’s going to have a big year this year, and I hope it’s in our town." Bold words, Maxx, but hey, dream big.

The Jets’ 2024 season with Rodgers was less than stellar, ending with a 5-12 record. Despite having standout weapons like Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard, and eventually Davante Adams, Rodgers failed to find his rhythm. Still, his numbers—3,897 passing yards and 28 touchdown passes—were a notable improvement from his final year with the Green Bay Packers. But numbers don’t tell the whole story when the chemistry’s off.

With a new regime taking over in New York, the Jets announced they’d part ways with Rodgers, leaving the veteran quarterback a free agent. Meanwhile, the Raiders could desperately use some stability under center. After cycling through Gardner Minshew II, Aidan O’Connell, and Desmond Ridder, Las Vegas stumbled to a 4-13 record, finishing dead last in the AFC West. Ouch.

The Raiders haven’t seen playoff action since 2021, back when Derek Carr was leading the charge. Could Rodgers be the spark they need to break the dry spell? Crosby seems to think so.

Of course, this is all speculative for now, but the possibility of Rodgers donning a Raiders jersey in 2025 adds a juicy layer of intrigue to an already unpredictable NFL offseason.
