The weather forecast for Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, painted a grim picture with strong winds and thunderstorms expected to last all afternoon and into the evening.

The PGA Tour hasn’t had a Monday finish at The Players for three years, and you can bet they didn’t want to break that streak. By 3 p.m. ET, there was hope that play might resume later in the afternoon, with officials monitoring the situation closely.

McIlroy was holding steady at -4 under through 11 holes, maintaining a razor-thin lead over J.J. Spaun, who sat at +1 through 10. If the skies clear, this could shape up to be a thrilling finish—or an agonizing wait.
