Rumer Willis opens up about her unique family traditions, including co-sleeping with her daughter and sisters, and reflects on the strong bonds within the Willis-Moore clan.
Rumer Willis, daughter of Hollywood icons Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, has shared some intriguing insights into her family dynamics that might raise a few eyebrows. Speaking on the "What in the Winkler?!" podcast, Rumer revealed her ongoing practice of co-sleeping with her two-year-old daughter, Louetta, and an unconventional tradition with her siblings.
"I co-sleep with Louetta and have not spent a night away from her since she was born," Rumer confessed during the podcast. She added, "I hope Lou will still sleep in bed with me when she’s my age. I still sleep in bed with my mom and I don't think it’s weird." Clearly, the Willis-Moore clan has a unique take on family bonding.
And if that wasn’t enough to make you do a double-take, Rumer also revealed that she and her sisters Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 31, still take baths together. "We all still take baths together, my sisters and I," she said, explaining that it’s simply the way they were raised. "People might think that that's crazy and weird, but I don't."
Rumer’s philosophy on parenting and familial closeness stems from her broader view of human connections. She compared her parenting choices to the natural bond between animals and their offspring, saying, "Imagine if you took a baby gorilla or a dog when it was two weeks old or three months old, and had it sleep in a different room than [its] mom. Everyone would look at you like you were crazy." She noted, "By the way, we as adults don't even know how to self-soothe. People drink wine, people do drugs, people eat an entire tub of ice cream." Well, she’s not wrong about the ice cream part.
Rumer shares Louetta with her former partner Derek Richard Thomas, and despite their split last August, the pair have managed to co-parent amicably. This ability to maintain harmony seems to run in the family, as Bruce Willis and Demi Moore famously stayed close after their 2000 divorce, setting a blueprint for blended family success.
Bruce, now married to Emma Heming Willis, has two more daughters, Mabel and Evelyn, from his second marriage. Together, the extended family has faced challenges, including Bruce’s diagnosis with aphasia and later frontotemporal dementia, announced in 2022. Through it all, the Willis-Moore clan has presented a united front, showing the world how a family can come together in tough times.
Rumer has often praised her parents for their approach to co-parenting. During a British talk show appearance earlier this year, she said, "I think the thing that I’m most grateful for is that even when they split up, they created such a beautiful foundation of prioritizing my sisters and I... We were a family, and we still are very much a family no matter what."
As for her future plans, Rumer hasn’t ruled out expanding her family. In an AMA session on Instagram last August, she said, "Definitely because having siblings is one of the best parts of my entire life... I want that for Lou. So open to whatever that looks like in the future."
While some may scratch their heads at Rumer's family practices, you can't deny the heartwarming bond shared among the Willis-Moore clan. In a world that often feels disconnected, their traditions are a reminder that family comes in all shapes and rituals.

Okay, can we all take a moment to appreciate how unapologetically quirky this family is? The bathtub bonding might raise eyebrows, but hey, if it works for them, who are we to judge? Also, Rumer's comparison of parenting to baby gorillas is both endearing and hilariously accurate. She's definitely got a knack for making us rethink the ordinary.
