NASCAR’s Ryan Blaney eyes 'The Double,' the grueling Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600 challenge, as Kyle Larson aims to make history this Sunday.
Sunday promises to be a thrilling day for motorsport enthusiasts, with a trifecta of high-octane races: the Monaco Grand Prix, the Indianapolis 500, and the Coca-Cola 600 closing out the evening. Among the drivers to watch is NASCAR star Ryan Blaney, who’ll pilot the No. 12 Team Penske car, sporting a sleek BodyArmor Chill design, in the grueling 600-mile Charlotte race.
Blaney’s teammate, Kyle Larson, is tackling an even bolder challenge: "The Double." This rare feat involves racing the Indy 500 in Indianapolis, then jetting to Charlotte for the Coca-Cola 600—all in one day. It’s a test of endurance, logistics, and sheer grit. Only five drivers have ever attempted it, with Tony Stewart being the only one to complete both races in a single day. No one has won either race during the attempt, but Larson’s hoping to rewrite history this weekend.
In an interview, Blaney shared his excitement for the motorsport marathon. “It’s the biggest day in racing,” he said, noting how he starts his morning cheering for the Monaco Grand Prix, roots for Team Penske at Indy, and then straps in for the Coca-Cola 600. Reflecting on Larson’s attempt at The Double last year, Blaney called it “neat” but acknowledged the weather-related chaos that derailed it. “Hopefully, it’s smoother this time,” he added.
Blaney himself isn’t ruling out taking on The Double someday. “It’s something I’ve always considered,” he mused, citing his Team Penske connection, which fields drivers at both Indy and NASCAR. “Maybe down the road, if the chance comes, we’ll see.” For now, he’s focused on conquering Charlotte, but the allure of motorsport’s ultimate challenge clearly has him intrigued.
Fans can catch the Indy 500 on FOX, with coverage starting at 10 a.m. ET, or stream it live on FOXSports.com and the FOX Sports app. The Coca-Cola 600 will follow, capping off a day of speed, strategy, and stamina.

Ryan Blaney’s eyeing 'The Double' like a kid eyeing a second slice of pie—tempting, but he knows it’s a logistical food fight! Larson’s attempt feels like trying to sprint a marathon, then catch a redeye to run another. Here’s hoping he doesn’t get stuck in the pit stop of Charlotte traffic!
