Saquon Barkley defends Eagles’ tush push, urges critics to ‘get better’ as NFL owners debate banning the play.

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley didn’t mince words when addressing critics of the team’s infamous tush push play, a strategy that’s sparked heated debate across the NFL. With team owners set to revisit a potential ban on the play in their May 20-21 meeting, Barkley’s stance is clear: if you can’t handle it, get tougher.

"If you don’t like it, get better at stopping it," Barkley told ESPN, shrugging off complaints about the play’s dominance. The tush push, often used to bulldoze quarterback Jalen Hurts over the line for crucial yards or touchdowns, has become the Eagles’ signature weapon. "Everyone tries it," Barkley added. "We’re just better at it."

The push to outlaw the play, led by the Green Bay Packers, gained traction with 16 teams backing the proposal, but it fell short of the 24 votes needed to pass. The rule, if approved, would prevent offensive players from immediately shoving a teammate who takes the snap—a direct shot at the Eagles’ tactic.

Even former President Donald Trump weighed in during the Eagles’ White House visit to celebrate their Super Bowl LIX win over the Kansas City Chiefs. "I hope they keep that play," Trump said, turning to Eagles coach Nick Sirianni. "It’s exciting and different." Barkley, standing nearby, nodded in agreement.

The tush push isn’t just a play; it’s a testament to the Eagles’ grit and ingenuity. Banning it would strip the game of a unique edge, rewarding teams who’d rather complain than compete. For now, the debate rages on, but Philly’s not backing down.

The tush push debate is like arguing over who gets the last slice of pizza—everyone wants a piece, but only the Eagles know how to grab it! Why ban a play that rewards muscle and hustle? If the Packers want to stop Hurts, maybe they should hit the gym instead of the rulebook. And Trump chiming in? That’s just the cherry on this chaotic NFL sundae.
