Six illegal immigrants charged in the murder of a South Carolina mom spark debate on border security and public safety.

In a chilling reminder of the dangers lurking in the shadows of unchecked borders, a South Carolina mother of two, Larisha Thompson, was senselessly gunned down on May 2 while driving to meet friends in Rock Hill. Six illegal immigrants, aged 13 to 21, now face charges in her murder, a crime that has left a community reeling and two children without their mother. South Carolina Rep. Ralph Norman didn’t mince words, telling WTFNewsRoom, "This can happen anywhere, anytime. It’s a tragedy we’re seeing nationwide."

Thompson, 40, was found dead behind the wheel on Riverside Road in Lancaster, an hour south of Charlotte, with a fatal gunshot wound. Authorities allege the suspects, led by 21-year-old Asael Aminadas Torres-Chirinos, pulled up alongside her in a random robbery attempt, firing shots when they couldn’t access her locked vehicle. The sheer audacity of the crime, described by Lancaster Sheriff Barry Faile as defying "any sense of decency in a civilized society," has sparked outrage.

The suspects—three adults and three juveniles—are also linked to a burglary at Van Wyck Mart just days earlier, where ballistic evidence tied a 9 mm handgun to both crimes. Digital surveillance pinned Torres-Chirinos at both scenes, leading to the swift arrest of all six. The adults face charges of murder, attempted armed robbery, and burglary, with Torres-Chirinos also hit with firearms violations. The juveniles face similar charges, and all are subject to deportation, with DHS detainers in place.

Norman pointed to a broader issue, noting that years of lax border policies under the Biden administration allowed criminals from over 160 countries to slip through. "You wouldn’t leave your house unlocked like that," he quipped, slamming Democrats for not condemning the policy failures. While he’s optimistic about recent border security improvements, the fear remains: how many more unknown threats are still out there? Thompson’s family, meanwhile, grapples with an unthinkable loss, a stark reminder of the human cost of these failures.

This tragedy’s got me thinking: if borders were as tight as my grandma’s Tupperware, maybe Larisha Thompson would still be tucking her kids in tonight. Instead, we’ve got a sheriff sounding like he’s ready to audition for a vigilante movie and a congressman throwing shade at Biden’s open-door policy. Here’s the kicker—when a 13-year-old’s on a crime spree, you know the system’s more broken than a screen door on a submarine.
