Southampton police have arrested 32-year-old Virginia resident Amanda Kempton in connection with the tragic hit-and-run death of Sara Burack, a celebrated real estate agent and star of Netflix’s Million Dollar Beach House. Kempton faces charges of leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident, a class D felony in New York that carries up to four years in prison. She was taken into custody on Friday and is scheduled for arraignment on Saturday.
The incident occurred on June 19 along Montauk Highway near Villa Paul Restaurant, where Burack was struck and left unconscious. Despite being revived after cardiac arrest and rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital, she succumbed to severe injuries, including a fractured skull and extensive brain trauma. Authorities have not yet released details about the vehicle involved in the crash.
Burack, also known for her role on HBO Max’s Selling the Hamptons, was a beloved figure in the real estate world, working with NestSeekers International. A close family friend described her as a dedicated professional and a compassionate person who tirelessly raised funds for charities, co-chairing galas and black-tie events in New York City. “She was a light in every room, always ready to help,” the friend shared.
Burack’s passion for real estate was lifelong, rooted in her family’s construction business. “The Hamptons was her second home for over a decade,” she once told Hamptons.com, reflecting on her journey from summer property manager to a thriving broker. Her untimely death has left a void in the community she loved and served.
