Steelers and Dolphins trade Jalen Ramsey, Jonnu Smith for Minkah Fitzpatrick in a major NFL shakeup ahead of 2025 training camp.

In a blockbuster move that’s shaking up the NFL, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Miami Dolphins have swapped star defensive backs, with a few extra pieces thrown into the mix. On Monday, just weeks before training camp kicks off, the Dolphins sent three-time All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey, tight end Jonnu Smith, and a 2027 seventh-round pick to Pittsburgh. In return, Miami welcomed back safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, a New Jersey native, along with a 2027 fifth-round pick.

Ramsey, a defensive dynamo who won a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, had been vocal about seeking a trade. Last season, he racked up 60 tackles and two interceptions across 17 games. His arrival in Pittsburgh bolsters an already fierce defense, giving the Steelers a lockdown corner to disrupt opposing offenses. Meanwhile, Smith, coming off a career-best season with 88 catches, 884 yards, and eight touchdowns, adds a dynamic weapon for Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers’ offense.

For Miami, Fitzpatrick’s return feels like a homecoming. Traded to Pittsburgh mid-2019 after a rocky Dolphins season, he earned three All-Pro nods and posted 96 tackles with an interception last year. This trade reshapes both teams’ strategies as they gear up for 2025, with Pittsburgh doubling down on defensive star power and Miami banking on Fitzpatrick’s versatility.

This trade’s got more twists than a soap opera! Ramsey’s heading to Pittsburgh to lock down receivers, while Fitzpatrick’s back in Miami, probably wondering if his old locker’s still free. And Jonnu Smith? He’s ready to catch passes from Rodgers like it’s a summer barbecue. Bet the Dolphins are hoping Fitzpatrick brings some steel to their secondary, but can he outshine Ramsey’s swagger? It’s like trading a Ferrari for a muscle car—both sweet rides, but who’s got the better engine for 2025?
