Brief

Draymond Green faces hostile chants from Houston fans during Warriors vs. Rockets NBA Playoffs Game 2, prompting Steve Kerr to comment on fan behavior and Green's controversial reputation.

Draymond Green is never far from drama, but things got especially heated during Game 2 of the NBA Playoffs between the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets. The Rockets' home crowd unleashed a loud, explicit chant directed at Green, making him the villain of the night. Not exactly a shocker, but it was enough to get Warriors head coach Steve Kerr to weigh in.

This rivalry is old news at this point—after all, it's the fifth postseason matchup between these teams since 2015, with the Warriors dominating so far. But if you thought Houston fans would let that go, you clearly haven't seen playoff basketball in Texas.

When the crowd started chanting "F--- you, Draymond," Kerr couldn't help but voice his concerns. "It’s not ideal when a crowd is chanting, 'F you, Draymond.' I mean, they did it in Boston a few years ago in the Finals. It is what it is," Kerr said. He went on to add, "Draymond, he’s been around forever. He’s an instigator; he’s always going to be in the mix. Because of his career, his championships, his fire, he’s going to be a lightning rod, and that’s all part of it. I would prefer if fans could use a little more discretion and remember that the guy has kids. I don’t know, I just, maybe I’m old school. But I’m all for the fans cheering for their team, and if they want to yell at the opponents, great; but I don’t know, I just think 'F you' is, it’s a little much."

Meanwhile, Draymond Green himself barely blinked at the hate. "It's not original," he shrugged. "Been there before, won a championship while it was happening. So, yeah, it's not really original. Can't steal other people's chants. That belongs to Boston. So, I kinda just kept pushing." Draymond's ability to keep it moving is honestly impressive—he's practically immune to boos at this point.

Green is no stranger to controversy. Last season, he was suspended twice—five games for putting Minnesota Timberwolves' Rudy Gobert in a chokehold, and then another suspension for hitting Jusuf Nurkic in the face. Add in an ejection less than four minutes into another game, and a top spot in the technical fouls leaderboard, and you've got a player who truly lives on the edge.

With the series now tied 1-1, Game 3 is set for Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. ET. Expect the tension—and maybe the volume—to only go up from here.

Draymond Green might just be the NBA’s unofficial king of chaos, but at this rate, I’m starting to think Houston fans are auditioning for their own reality show—'America’s Got Hecklers.' Can't wait to see if they break out new material for Game 3, or if Boston will have to start charging royalties for their signature chant.
