Teddi Mellencamp shares hopeful news as her Stage 4 cancer tumors significantly shrink after treatment. The RHOBH star remains optimistic about recovery and inspires fans with her journey.

Teddi Mellencamp has delivered some good news in her ongoing battle with Stage 4 cancer: her tumors are shrinking. The "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star, 43, recently shared with her followers that scans showed the tumors in her brain and lungs have 'significantly shrunk.' That’s the kind of plot twist reality TV can’t script.

Mellencamp, who was hospitalized earlier this year after doctors found multiple brain tumors (and, in a turn that could make anyone's head spin, two more in her lungs during surgery), updated fans through a tearful social media post. She expressed hope that after two more immunotherapy sessions, she could be cancer-free if everything stays on track.

She wrote, "All tumors (metastasized melanoma in my brain and lungs) shrunk or disappeared, so I have 6ish more weeks of immunotherapy and my doctors believe I will be healed if everything stays on course." Staying positive might not be easy when you’ve been handed a 50/50 chance of survival, but Mellencamp seems determined to find the silver lining — even if the odds sound more like a coin toss than anyone would like.

In a recent interview, Mellencamp admitted she’s been preoccupied with survival rates but was told by her doctor that immunotherapy is still a relatively new treatment, so those statistics might not say it all. She joked, "50/50? I wouldn’t buy a car that’s only gonna drive 50% of the time. I don’t want this." Sometimes, humor is the best medicine when the odds aren’t in your favor.

Despite her brave front, Mellencamp confessed, "I really like to have control, and this is completely out of my control. And for the first time, I’m really scared." She shares three children with her estranged husband, Edwin Arroyave: Slate, 12; Cruz, 10; and Dove, 5 — all of whom she’s fighting for every day.

The journey is far from over, but Mellencamp’s outlook and candor offer inspiration — and a little reality check — on the unpredictability of life, both on- and off-screen.

Editor's Comments

I have to say, Teddi’s comment about 50/50 odds and car shopping is a whole mood — imagine if the only thing more unreliable than a used car lot is your own prognosis. But seriously, her determination to keep looking for the positive, even as she navigates the wildest storyline of her life, is kind of awe-inspiring. If only drama on reality TV came with immunotherapy options, right?
