GiveSendGo investigates fundraiser for Temple student Mo Khan, feuding with Dave Portnoy over an antisemitic sign at Barstool’s bar.
A crowdfunding campaign on GiveSendGo, raising over $15,000 for Temple University student Mo Khan, is under scrutiny as the platform investigates its legitimacy. Khan, locked in a public feud with Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, is seeking funds for legal defense following controversy over an antisemitic sign displayed at Barstool’s Sansom Street bar. The sign, reading "F--- the Jews," sparked outrage after Portnoy accused Khan of sharing a video of it on Instagram.
Khan claims he merely reported the sign’s existence and denies involvement, but Portnoy alleges Khan admitted responsibility in a phone call, only to later retract and "lawyer up." Community notes on X further challenge Khan’s narrative, citing his history of antisemitic behavior, including an alleged incident of throwing quarters at Jewish students. Adding fuel, Khan’s appearance on a podcast hosted by Stew Peters, known for antisemitic views, drew condemnation from Temple’s president, John Fry, who called it "appalling."
GiveSendGo’s co-founder, Jacob Wells, emphasized the platform’s commitment to verifying campaigns, noting that misrepresentations could lead to removal. Meanwhile, Temple has suspended two students, including Khan, as Philadelphia police continue their investigation. No charges have been filed.

Mo Khan’s crowdfunding saga feels like a bad bar joke: a sign walks into a bar, and somehow everyone’s wallets are offended. Portnoy’s calling him a liar, X is piling on with community notes, and Temple’s handing out suspensions like free drinks. Here’s a thought—maybe Khan’s next fundraiser should be for a history lesson, because repeating antisemitic tropes is a flop no one’s laughing at.
