Texas A&M Aggies pitcher Shane Sdao responds to harsh fan criticism after a disappointing season start, urging supporters for patience and respect as the team works to improve.

Texas A&M Aggies pitcher Shane Sdao didn’t hold back when addressing the criticism hurled at him and his teammates after a shaky start to the 2025 baseball season. The Aggies are now on a four-game losing streak, following defeats to Oklahoma State, Cal Poly, Texas State, and Arizona, with only seven runs scored across all four games. It's not the kind of stat sheet fans were hoping for from a team that went 53-15 last season and finished as runner-up in the national championship.

Sdao took to social media to address the backlash, which he described as "absolutely disgusting and ridiculous." In his statement, he called out the negativity on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, imploring fans to show more support instead of piling on. "We all understand that we are not playing to the best of our abilities, but the level of hate and disrespect being thrown around is completely unacceptable and out of line," he wrote.

The pitcher reminded fans that the players are human and are feeling the frustration just as much as anyone else—if not more. "We are working every day to be better, and this is not helping at all. No one has any idea what any of us are going through," he added. Sdao also extended his plea for understanding to other Aggies sports teams and urged fans to return to their roots of supportiveness. "Let’s go back to being Aggie fans instead of acting like opposing team fans. Let’s do better. Gig ’Em," he concluded.

The Aggies, now 5-4 after their loss to Oklahoma State, will try to regain their footing with a game against Rice on Sunday. While this year’s start has been rocky compared to last season’s explosive 17-game winning streak, it’s clear the team is determined to turn things around.

In an era where social media can amplify both praise and criticism, Sdao’s call for civility serves as a timely reminder that athletes are people first, and a little patience might go a long way.

Honestly, it’s wild how quickly some fans forget that these athletes are just college kids trying their best. Sure, the Aggies aren’t off to a dream start, but throwing hate online? Yikes. Maybe some fans need a reminder that 'Gig ’Em' doesn’t mean 'Grill ’Em.'
