Thunder Pull Off Epic 29-Point Comeback, Stun Grizzlies in Playoff Thriller

Chet Holmgren turned up the heat in the second half, pouring in 23 of his 24 points and leading the Oklahoma City Thunder to a jaw-dropping 114-108 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies Thursday night. The Thunder roared back from a 29-point hole—yeah, you read that right—to take a 3-0 stranglehold on their first-round playoff series.
The Grizzlies seemed to be cruising early, especially after Ja Morant exited late in the first half with a hip injury. Memphis held a commanding 67-40 lead when Morant left and padded it to 26 points by halftime. But then the Thunder decided to rewrite the script, and Memphis fans might want to forget the rest of this story.
According to NBA stats, this comeback is the second-largest in postseason history since play-by-play records started in 1996-97. Only the Los Angeles Clippers' 31-point rally against Golden State in 2019 tops it. So, Thunder fans, you’re now part of NBA trivia legend.
After blasting Memphis in Game 1 by a whopping 51 points (the fifth-largest playoff margin ever), the Thunder didn’t even sniff the lead in this one until the fourth quarter. But when it mattered, they struck—and now they’re just one win away from sweeping the series. Saturday’s game could be lights out for the Grizzlies, unless they can find a miracle of their own.

You’d think after a 29-point lead, the Grizzlies could’ve just set up lawn chairs and watched the clock. Instead, they somehow managed to hand out history lessons in heartbreak. I bet Memphis fans are wishing the NBA had a mercy rule—like, 'Sorry folks, you’re up by 30, let’s just call it.'
