WalletHub’s 2025 report ranks Boston, Reno, and Savannah as the best U.S. cities for St. Patrick’s Day, based on pubs, affordability, and festive traditions.
A new study has pinpointed the best cities in America for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, and the results might surprise you—or not. WalletHub’s 2025 report analyzed 200 major cities, ranking them using key metrics like Irish pubs and restaurants per capita, hotel prices, and weather forecasts.
Chip Lupo, an analyst at WalletHub, shared that St. Patrick’s Day is embraced by millions of Americans, regardless of their ancestry. He noted, "The best cities for St. Patrick’s Day combine rich traditions with tasty and affordable food, safe conditions to celebrate, and good weather." Well, sounds like the perfect recipe for a memorable holiday—assuming you don’t go overboard with the green beer.
Taking the gold this year is Boston, Massachusetts, a city steeped in Irish-American heritage and home to the oldest St. Patrick’s Day parade tradition, dating back to 1724. With the sixth-most Irish pubs and restaurants per capita, Boston also boasts affordability in its offerings to revelers.
Coming in second is Reno, Nevada, where beer prices are among the lowest in the country. Reno pulls out all the stops with "The Reno Leprechaun Crawl," a lively downtown event featuring themed activities and drink specials. Families can join the Annual Leprechaun Race 5K to keep the holiday spirit active and healthy.
Third place goes to Savannah, Georgia, which draws nearly half a million visitors during the holiday to enjoy its parade and Celtic Cross Ceremony. WalletHub highlighted Savannah for its abundance of bars per capita, making it a top destination for pub crawlers.
Rounding out the top five are Santa Rosa, California, in fourth place and Worcester, Massachusetts, in fifth. The report also revealed some interesting stats: Naperville, Illinois, boasts the highest Irish population and lowest crime rate, while Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has the cheapest beer prices. On the flip side, Anchorage, Alaska, takes the crown for the priciest pint. Not exactly the pot of gold we’re looking for.

Boston topping the list feels like a no-brainer—its Irish roots are practically legendary. But Reno sneaking into second place? That’s a twist I didn’t see coming. Guess cheap beer and quirky events can really work wonders. Also, Anchorage charging top dollar for beer? If you’re celebrating there, maybe bring your own pint—or your wallet might feel less lucky than a four-leaf clover.
