The Trump administration is celebrating the extradition of 29 defendants from Mexico to face charges in the U.S. The Justice Department announced the individuals will face justice in districts across the country for crimes including racketeering, drug trafficking, murder, illegal firearms use, money laundering, and other offenses.
This move aligns with President Trump's pledge to get tough on drug cartels and reinforce the southern border. It's like, finally!
According to a statement from the White House press secretary, Attorney General Bondi and Secretary of State Rubio played key roles in making the extraditions happen, acting on President Trump's directive.
Among those extradited is Rafael Caro Quintero, described as one of the "most evil cartel bosses in the world," notorious for the 1985 torture and murder of DEA Agent Kiki Camerena. "The previous Administration allowed these criminals to run free and commit crimes all over the world. The Trump Administration is declaring these thugs as terrorists, because that is what they are, and demanding justice for the American people," the statement added.
Following an executive order issued by President Donald Trump in January, the State Department recently designated eight groups as foreign terrorist organizations, including MS-13 and Tren de Aragua.
The Justice Department noted that those taken into U.S. custody include leaders and managers from cartels such as the Sinaloa Cartel, Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG), Cártel del Noreste (formerly Los Zetas), La Nueva Familia Michoacana, and Cártel de Golfo (Gulf Cartel).
FBI Director Kash Patel stated that the FBI and its partners will pursue terrorists and cartel members to the "ends of the earth" to bring them to justice. "The era of harming Americans and walking free is over," he declared.

These extraditions are a strong signal. It's about time these cartel figures face justice in the U.S. for the damage they've caused. Also, I think it's great to see cross-departmental collaboration to get things done.
