Donald Trump will attend the NCAA Wrestling Championships in Philadelphia, joining top political figures as Penn State leads the standings. The event promises excitement and star power.

Donald Trump, never one to shy away from a big crowd, announced on Friday that he’ll be attending the NCAA Wrestling Championships in Philadelphia on Saturday. The former president made it clear that he’s pumped for the event, calling it "the big fight" and highlighting his longtime support for college wrestlers.

Speaking to reporters outside the White House, Trump shared his plans to head to the Wells Fargo Center, where Penn State is dominating the championship standings with a commanding lead of 90.5 points. Nebraska and Oklahoma State are trailing at 62.5 and 61.0 points, respectively. Trump’s enthusiasm for the athletes was evident as he praised their grit and determination, saying, "These are the great college wrestlers from the various schools. I think Penn State is leading, and Nebraska is in second place right now. And a lot of good things."

Clay Travis, co-founder of OutKick, first dropped the news on Tuesday, revealing via an X post that he would be traveling "with" Trump on Air Force One to the championships. On Friday, the White House confirmed Trump’s attendance, ensuring a bit of extra star power for the event.

Joining Trump in Philadelphia will be House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, himself a two-time NCAA Division I wrestling champion. Jordan’s wrestling pedigree extends to coaching, having served as an assistant coach at Ohio State University from 1987 to 1995. Also tagging along is Sen. Dave McCormick, R-Pa., who expressed his excitement on X, reminiscing about his own wrestling days in Pennsylvania and at West Point. McCormick shared, "It taught me grit, resilience, and hard work."

This weekend marks the NCAA Wrestling Championships’ return to Philadelphia for the first time since 2011. Back then, Penn State capitalized on the home-state advantage to claim victory, kicking off a dominant run that has seen them win eight of the last thirteen titles, including the last three in a row. Should they clinch another win on Saturday, it will mark their third four-peat in just over a decade. Talk about a dynasty!

The event promises high-octane action and a dose of political star power. Wrestling fans, get ready for a showdown both on and off the mat.

Trump showing up at a wrestling championship is peak theater, isn't it? The man knows how to keep himself in the spotlight, but let’s give some love to Penn State, who are crushing it like it’s just another day at the office. Also, Jim Jordan and his wrestling past? That’s a subplot I didn’t see coming. Wrestling meets politics—what a combo!
