President Trump defends his executive order banning biological males from women’s sports, sparking controversy and debate over transgender athlete participation and federal funding in schools.

President Donald Trump declared on Saturday that keeping biological males out of women’s and girls’ sports is a no-brainer, calling it a "90-10 issue" among voters. During a conversation aboard Air Force One with OutKick’s Clay Travis, Trump emphasized the overwhelming public support for this stance, adding, "It’s such a simple thing, it’s so basic."

Trump signed the "No Men in Women’s Sports" executive order earlier this year, barring biological males from competing against females in sports. The order includes provisions for federal funding to be stripped from public schools that fail to comply. However, not everyone is on board—Maine Governor Janet Mills has been among those challenging the order.

The President took to Truth Social over the weekend, demanding a personal apology from Mills for what he described as an "unlawful challenge to the Federal Government." In his fiery post, Trump wrote, "We need a full-throated apology from the Governor herself... I’m sure she will be able to do that quite easily. Thank you for your attention to this matter and, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!"

Maine has since complied with the order, following public pressure and a temporary pause in federal funding to the University of Maine System. The funding was reinstated shortly after Maine agreed to the terms of the executive order.

Trump’s remarks come amid ongoing debates nationwide about transgender athletes’ participation in women’s sports, an issue that continues to stir controversy and division. While Trump insists this is a clear-cut issue for most Americans, critics argue that such policies risk alienating and harming transgender individuals. The conversation is far from over, with states and institutions navigating complex ethical and legal waters.

Trump's '90-10 issue' claim is bold, but the silence he notes among voters is intriguing. Are people wary of voicing their stance, or is it simply a less-talked-about topic? The demand for a personal apology from Governor Mills is classic Trump—dramatic and unapologetically public. Maine's compliance, after some funding drama, shows how federal pressure can shift the state’s stance. This battle over transgender athletes in sports is just heating up—it’s a hot-button issue that cuts deep into societal debates about fairness versus inclusivity.
