Donald Trump criticized NFL owners for not drafting Shedeur Sanders in the first round, praising his potential and legendary family background as the NFL Draft continues.
Donald Trump has never been one to hold back his opinions, and this time, he's got NFL owners in his sights. The former president took to Truth Social to blast team owners for not scooping up Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders in the first round of the NFL Draft, calling their decision "stupid."
Trump made the case that Shedeur's father, Deion Sanders, was a legend both on the field and as a coach, so clearly, greatness runs in the family. "He’s also a very good coach, streetwise and smart! Therefore, Shedeur, his quarterback son, has PHENOMENAL GENES, and is all set for Greatness," Trump posted. Apparently, the presidential scouting report is in: pick Shedeur Sanders "IMMEDIATELY" if you want to win.
Despite the high praise, NFL teams didn't seem convinced. Once seen as a top prospect, Sanders watched as other names came off the board: Cam Ward became the number one overall pick for the Tennessee Titans, the Raiders went with Ashton Jeanty at six, and the Saints grabbed Kelvin Banks Jr. at nine. The Pittsburgh Steelers, sitting at 21, passed on Sanders for Derrick Harmon. Even the New York Giants, who traded up for a second first-round pick, opted for quarterback Jaxson Dart instead.
With the first round winding down, the Cleveland Browns—desperate at quarterback with Deshaun Watson struggling and injured—hold the first and fourth picks in round two. It’s hard not to feel for Sanders, who admitted he and his family were "stunned" by the draft night tumble. "We all didn't expect this, of course, but I feel like with God, anything possible, everything possible," Sanders said, adding that the experience is just "fuel to the fire." He kept his spirits up, saying, "Tomorrow's the day. We going to be happy regardless. Legendary."
The NFL Draft continues Friday night, with Sanders still looking for his shot—and maybe, just maybe, an owner who listens to presidential advice.

Honestly, if Trump ever decides to switch careers, I think he'd make a wild NFL draft analyst—imagine him at the combine with a stopwatch and a MAGA hat. But seriously, if NFL owners are 'stupid' for missing Shedeur, does that make Trump the first honorary GM-in-chief? Maybe next year we'll see presidential debates held at the 50-yard line.
