Donald Trump unveils a new Homeland Security Advisory Council featuring Mark Levin, Henry McMaster, Joe Gruters, and Bo Dietl, focusing on border security and conservative priorities.
President Donald Trump just announced a punchy lineup for his retooled Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC), and it’s a who’s who of conservative power players. Joining the panel are conservative radio star Mark Levin, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, Florida state Senator Joe Gruters, and former NYPD detective Bo Dietl.
Trump called serving on the council a "big honor," and made it clear—on Truth Social, of course—that he thinks these new members are the best of the best. "Top Experts in their field, who are highly respected by their peers," he declared, adding that he’s confident they’ll do an "incredible job." That’s a lot of pressure, but I guess that’s par for the course with this crew.
Under the eye of Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, the council’s mission will be to firm up policies and strategies: securing the border, deporting criminal offenders, and cracking down on the flow of fentanyl and other illegal drugs. Trump punctuated his announcement with a familiar rallying cry: "MAKE AMERICA SAFE AGAIN." The exclamation point practically jumps off the screen.
Mark Levin, known for his fiery commentary and his Fox News show "Life, Liberty & Levin," brings some star power and serious conservative credentials to the table. Meanwhile, Florida’s Joe Gruters—whom Trump publicly encouraged to run for state CFO—has his own ambitions. As he said on X, he’s looking forward to a potential run in 2026, especially with Trump’s endorsement in his pocket. Not to be overlooked, Bo Dietl adds a dash of New York detective grit to the mix.
The announcement comes as Florida politics is shuffling: Rep. Jimmy Patronis, who previously served as the state’s CFO, just entered Congress, leaving the CFO seat open for Governor Ron DeSantis to fill. The next CFO election is set for 2026, so the Sunshine State is about to get pretty interesting, politically speaking.

I’ve seen weddings with less drama than this advisory council announcement. Trump’s knack for assembling a cast straight out of political central casting never fails to amuse. Mark Levin at Homeland Security? If the council meetings get broadcast, I’m grabbing popcorn.
