Trump Train Proposal: Florida Congressman Pushes to Rename D.C. Metro System

Greg Steube, who’s pushing a bold plan to rebrand Washington, D.C.’s Metro system in honor of President Donald Trump. His proposed "Make Autorail Great Again (MAGA) Act" would tie $150 million in federal funding to renaming the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) to WMAGA—Washington Metropolitan Authority for Greater Access—and dubbing the Metro’s six color-coded lines the "Trump Train."

Steube’s bill leans on a 1966 D.C. law that gave Congress a say in WMATA’s creation, arguing it’s time for a patriotic overhaul. He calls WMATA a "struggling institution" plagued by operational hiccups, safety issues, and fiscal woes.
