Brief

Pro-Palestine activists vandalized Donald Trump’s Turnberry golf resort in Scotland, defacing property with graffiti and political messages in protest of Trump’s controversial Gaza relocation proposal.

President Donald Trump’s Turnberry golf resort in Scotland became the target of an overnight vandalism spree, courtesy of pro-Palestine activists. The group not only defaced the property with graffiti but also damaged parts of the golf course itself, leaving behind a trail of political messaging and a few literal potholes.

Drone footage captured the aftermath: red paint splattered across the clubhouse and the bold phrase "Gaza Is Not For Sale" painted in stark white near one of the greens. The entrance wasn’t spared either, with a lamp post damaged and walls tagged with messages like "Free Gaza" and "Free Palestine." Clearly, subtlety wasn’t on the agenda here.

The group Palestine Action claimed responsibility for the vandalism, citing Trump’s controversial Gaza plans as the motive. In their statement, they declared, "To make that clear, we have shown him that his own property is not safe from acts of resistance." Well, if their goal was attention, mission accomplished.

Trump’s proposal, which he floated during a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, involved relocating Palestinians and transforming Gaza into a luxury destination, dubbing it the "Riviera of the Middle East." Unsurprisingly, the idea has been met with widespread criticism, not least for its audacity.

Turnberry, one of Trump’s prized golf properties, is located in southwest Scotland and boasts two 18-hole courses and a nine-hole course. While it has hosted four Open Championships, it has been excluded from the roster since Trump’s acquisition in 2014 and subsequent renovations. It remains unclear which specific course bore the brunt of the vandalism, but the Alisa Course, known for its volcanic namesake and world-class rankings, may have taken a hit.

Palestine Action didn’t mince words in their follow-up on social media, stating, "Yesterday, it was ranked #3 golf course in Europe. Today, it's shut." The resort, one of two Trump properties in Scotland, has now joined a growing list of sites targeted by activists protesting geopolitical issues.

Police Scotland confirmed they received a report of damage around 4:40 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2025, and investigations are ongoing. Meanwhile, the Trump Organization has yet to comment on the incident.

Adding to the day's drama, a separate protest unfolded in London, where a man waving a Palestinian flag scaled the iconic Elizabeth Tower—Big Ben—at the Palace of Westminster. Pro-Palestine activism clearly isn’t pulling any punches this week.

Let’s be real here—turning Gaza into the 'Riviera of the Middle East' is a wild concept. It’s not just the logistics that seem implausible; the sheer insensitivity of proposing mass displacement as part of a luxury makeover is eyebrow-raising at best. Palestine Action's vandalism may not win any diplomatic awards, but the boldness of their messaging is hard to ignore. Also, who digs holes in a golf course as a protest? That’s a plot twist I didn’t see coming.
