Tulane quarterback T.J. Finley has been suspended after his arrest for alleged possession of stolen property, adding to his turbulent college football journey across multiple programs.

Tulane quarterback T.J. Finley has been suspended from the team following his arrest earlier this week for allegedly possessing stolen property. Finley, 23, was released without posting bond after being booked on charges of possession of stolen goods valued at $25,000 or more.

According to authorities, Finley claimed he recently purchased a vehicle. However, they discovered the license plate on his car was registered to a different vehicle. As the legal process unfolds, Tulane's football program has opted to sideline the quarterback until further notice.

Coach Jon Sumrall addressed the situation briefly, emphasizing accountability: "When guys make mistakes, then they have to have accountability." Meanwhile, the Green Wave carried on with spring practice without Finley, handing quarterback duties to transfers Kadin Semonza and Donovan Leary.

This isn't Finley’s first brush with the law. Back in 2022, during his time at Auburn, he was arrested for allegedly evading police during a traffic stop. That incident occurred shortly after he made history as the first college athlete to sign an NIL deal with Amazon. Finley had discovered there was an active warrant for his arrest after being cited for riding a moped without a helmet.

Finley's college football journey has been a whirlwind. He’s now with his fifth program in six seasons, transferring to Tulane after a brief stint at Western Kentucky, where an ankle injury limited him to three games last season. His career began at LSU in 2020, followed by moves to Auburn, Texas State, and then Western Kentucky. His time at Texas State was particularly impressive, with career-best stats of 3,439 passing yards and 24 touchdowns.

Finley’s transfer to Tulane and subsequent suspension mark yet another chapter in the quarterback’s tumultuous collegiate career. How this latest setback will impact his future remains to be seen.

Finley's career feels like a college football version of a soap opera—constant transfers, legal run-ins, and moments of brilliance. Given the seriousness of these charges, Tulane was right to suspend him, but you can't help but wonder if Finley will ever find stability both on and off the field. At this rate, his resume might need its own filing cabinet.
