Brief

President Trump’s ninth week saw plans to dismantle the Education Department, clashes with the judiciary, a new fighter jet contract, and diplomatic moves on Ukraine and Russia.

In his ninth week in office, President Donald Trump wielded his signature executive pen, sparred with the judiciary, and made bold moves in defense and diplomacy, leaving no shortage of headlines in his wake.

Education Shake-up
On Thursday, Trump announced sweeping plans to dismantle the Department of Education, saying, "We're not doing well with the world of education in this country, and we haven't for a long time." The executive order he signed aims to shift control of education from federal bureaucracies to states and families. Education Secretary Linda McMahon has been tasked with facilitating the department's closure while ensuring uninterrupted services for programs like Pell Grants and special education support. Trump promised these programs would be redistributed to other agencies, maintaining their integrity. However, critics were quick to point out that such a move requires Congressional approval.

Trump’s critics questioned the feasibility of his vision, especially after he claimed states like Texas could rival Norway, Denmark, and Sweden in education standards under this plan. In classic Trump fashion, he added, "And then you'll have some laggards... but let's not get into that." Subtle.

Judicial Drama
The president didn’t stop at education. He called for the impeachment of Judge James Boasberg for blocking his administration from deporting alleged members of the Tren de Aragua gang under the Alien Enemies Act. This prompted a rare rebuke from Chief Justice John Roberts, who emphasized that judicial disagreement isn't grounds for impeachment. The White House, however, accused judges of acting as "partisan activists."

Fighter Jet Frenzy
In a move that stirred excitement among defense contractors, Trump announced that Boeing secured a contract to develop the Air Force’s sixth-generation fighter jet, the "F-47." He touted the jet as the "most advanced, most capable, most lethal aircraft ever built," adding that experimental versions have been flying covertly for years. The revival of this program, which had been shelved under the Biden administration, was described by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth as a clear signal of U.S. military dominance.

Diplomatic Calls
On the international stage, Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, brokering a limited ceasefire focused on energy infrastructure. Both sides agreed to send technical teams to Saudi Arabia to explore a broader ceasefire, with the White House calling it a potential "first step toward the full end of the war." Zelenskyy reportedly expressed gratitude for Trump’s leadership in the matter.

Whether he’s shaking up domestic institutions, clashing with the judiciary, or flexing military and diplomatic muscles, Trump’s ninth week in office was nothing short of eventful. Love him or hate him, it’s clear he’s keeping the nation – and the world – on its toes.

Trump's knack for stirring the pot remains unparalleled. From dismantling the Department of Education to clashing with federal judges, it’s like he’s hosting his own political reality show. But calling Texas the next Norway in education? That might be the plot twist no one saw coming.
