UFC legend Georges St. Pierre hopes for Conor McGregor's return to the Octagon after nearly four years, amid venue disputes with Dana White.
Conor McGregor, the fiery Irish superstar of the UFC, has been out of the Octagon for nearly four years, leaving fans and fighters alike hungry for his return. His last fight against Dustin Poirier in July 2021 ended in heartbreak with a broken leg, and a much-anticipated comeback against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 was derailed by a broken toe over a year ago. The wait continues, but the hope burns bright.
UFC legend Georges St. Pierre recently shared his thoughts on McGregor’s absence, expressing a deep desire to see the icon back in action. Speaking at Fanatics Fest in New York, St. Pierre didn’t hold back on McGregor’s impact: "When Conor fights, it’s good for the sport, good for everyone. He brought more eyeballs than anyone else in mixed martial arts history." He added a personal wish, hoping McGregor returns if it’s truly what he wants and what makes him happy.
McGregor, never one to shy away from making demands, took to social media earlier this year to insist his return fight should happen in a stadium. This stance, however, clashes with UFC President Dana White’s philosophy. White has been vocal about prioritizing the fan experience over massive venues, emphasizing the importance of delivering top-notch live events over simply packing more bodies into a space. At a press conference before UFC 306 at the Sphere in Las Vegas, White made it clear that stadium fights don’t interest him if they compromise quality.
As the saga of McGregor’s return unfolds, the question remains: will the UFC’s biggest draw step back into the spotlight, and if so, on whose terms? The sport waits with bated breath for the man who redefined what it means to be a fighter.

Conor McGregor’s comeback drama is starting to feel like a soap opera—will he or won’t he? And now a stadium demand? It’s like he’s asking for a castle to fight in while Dana White’s just trying to keep the Wi-Fi stable for fans at home. Here’s a thought: if Conor wants a stadium, maybe he should fight on the moon next—plenty of space and no production issues!
