U.S. State Department aids over 25,000 in Israel, West Bank, and Iran, offering guidance amid conflict; evacuations ongoing.
The U.S. State Department has extended a lifeline, offering guidance to over 25,000 individuals in Israel, the West Bank, and Iran amid escalating tensions. This support, detailed in a recent briefing, aims to help people navigate the chaos and find safe passage out of these volatile regions.
Spokeswoman Tammy Bruce, however, played it close to the vest, declining to specify how many of those assisted are American citizens. The State Department has made it clear that direct evacuations from Iran are off the table—citizens there must first cross borders to receive U.S. assistance.
In Israel, the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem is in high gear, with Ambassador Mike Huckabee spearheading efforts to organize evacuation flights and even cruise ship departures for Americans stranded in the conflict zone. Meanwhile, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has taken matters into his own hands, dispatching private planes to rescue 1,500 Jewish Americans, landing them safely in Tampa.
Despite these efforts, the U.S. has not yet launched a large-scale evacuation for private citizens, though the military has quietly airlifted some diplomats and their families. With the State Department elevating Israel’s travel warning to its highest level, the message is clear: the situation is dire, and options are limited.
