Brief
French golfer Victor Perez scores a historic hole-in-one at the U.S. Open, only the second at Oakmont, boosting his second-round standing.
Victor Perez turned heads at the U.S. Open with a jaw-dropping hole-in-one at Oakmont Country Club, marking only the second ace in the tournament’s history at this grueling Pennsylvania course. With a 7-iron from 192 yards on the par-3 sixth hole, the French golfer’s shot danced across the green, bounced a few times, and rolled into the cup like it had a GPS. The crowd roared, Perez pumped his fists, and he shared a spirited chest bump with his caddie, joined by playing partners Adam Schenk and Jacob Bridgeman.
Perez, ever the realist, admitted luck played a part. "A hole-in-one isn’t just skill—it’s a bit of magic," he said, noting he aimed long but got a fortunate spin. This was his ninth career ace, though he cheekily mentioned two from his home course in the Bahamas went unverified since he was playing solo. "Now, they’ll believe me," he quipped.
The ace was a turning point for Perez, who’d stumbled early in the second round. It propelled him to a tie for sixth at 1-over, while Sam Burns led the pack at 3-under. Oakmont’s last U.S. Open ace? Way back in 1983 by Scott Simpson. Perez’s feat adds a fresh chapter to the course’s storied legacy.

Victor Perez’s ace was like a French baguette—perfectly crisp and impossible to ignore! While Oakmont’s greens chew up dreams, Perez proved even a tough course can’t resist a little Gallic charm. Wonder if his caddie’s still recovering from that chest bump!
