Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones defies age stereotypes after a stellar 2024 season, signing a two-year extension and expressing confidence for the upcoming NFL season.

Apparently, age really is just a number—at least if you’re Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones. Fresh off a career-best season in 2024, Jones isn’t letting the big 3-1 coming up at the end of next season faze him in the slightest.

Jones wrapped up his first year with the Vikings by racking up 1,138 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 255 carries, plus another 408 yards and two touchdowns in the air from 51 catches. That’s not exactly what you’d call "slowing down."

Speaking to reporters, Jones said, "I feel the best I have ever felt. Feel like I’m back to 24, 25 years old. Age is just a number. It’s just a number. I’ve been saying that since I was a little kid trying to get older women, age is just a number. But it really is. If you stay young (mentally) and continue to work every day, that’s really what it is."

Jones recently signed a two-year contract extension with Minnesota after coming over from the Green Bay Packers, so clearly the Vikings are betting that the only thing getting old around here is the “old running backs” stereotype.

Last season, the Vikings surprised just about everyone by storming to a 14-3 record under Sam Darnold, nearly stealing the NFC North crown. Their playoff dreams, though, were cut short in the wild-card round by the Los Angeles Rams.

Looking ahead to 2025, things are shaking up again, with Darnold heading off to the Seattle Seahawks and rookie J.J. McCarthy set to take the reins. So, if you thought the Minnesota drama ended with last season, think again.
