President Trump and First Lady Melania hosted over 30,000 guests at the White House Easter Egg Roll, featuring family-friendly activities, music, and presidential festivities on the South Lawn.
The White House South Lawn got a healthy dose of springtime cheer as President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump welcomed over 30,000 guests for the annual White House Easter Egg Roll. This much-loved tradition, which has seen everything from egg races to presidential dad jokes, brought families from all over the country to the capital for some wholesome fun.
Festivities were in full swing, featuring the classic egg roll, a "Be Best" Military Card Writing Station, hopscotch, a Reading Nook, and even flower bouquet crafting. Kids and adults alike dived into egg and cookie decorating, soccer ball kicking, tunnel running, and snapping up those all-important patriotic selfies. If you ever doubted the White House could turn into the happiest place on earth—well, at least for a day, it gave Disney a run for its money.
President Trump and Melania kicked things off from the South Portico, joined by none other than a giant Easter bunny. Trump’s son, Donald Jr., arrived with Bettina Anderson and his five children, making it a truly family affair.
"A very happy Easter to everyone," the president announced, taking a moment to appreciate the weather—sunny enough for photos, cloudy enough to keep the sunburn away. He called Easter "special" and emphasized its religious significance, promising, "We’re bringing religion back in America."
Then came the main event: With a whistle blow from both Trump and Melania, the egg rolling chaos began. Children raced to roll their eggs across the lawn, while the president, ever the showman, couldn’t resist poking fun at past events: "When the bunny took Joe Biden out… He's not taking Trump out," he quipped, recalling a now-legendary moment involving the Easter bunny and the former vice president. Who knew the bunny was such a political heavyweight?
From there, the Trumps mingled with kids coloring Easter scenes. "I’m really into this," Trump admitted, looking as delighted as any of the children present. Meanwhile, the United States Marine Band, Army Band, Old Guard Fife & Drum Corps, Navy Band, and Air Force Band kept the tunes rolling, and child performer "Go with YoYo" took the stage to entertain the crowd.
Melania took a quieter moment to read "Bunny with a Big Heart" by Marilyn Sadler, spreading messages of kindness and friendship. She also gave a big thank you to the hardworking East Wing staff for pulling off the massive event, sharing her gratitude on Good Friday.
Attendance at the Egg Roll is by online lottery — entries closed March 10, so if you missed it, there’s always next year. Every child left with a commemorative wooden egg, a keepsake from a day where the only thing more colorful than the eggs were the presidential one-liners.

Honestly, if the Easter bunny ever runs for office, he’s already got more bipartisan moments than most politicians. Between the presidential whistle-blowing and a bunny with political clout, I’m half-expecting next year’s Egg Roll to feature a debate stage. Maybe the wooden eggs can double as campaign buttons!
