Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. was ejected after arguing a strike call, then violated MLB's social media policy with a controversial post during the team's 6-3 win over the Rays.

Jazz Chisholm Jr., the energetic new infielder for the New York Yankees, stirred up more than just dirt on the base paths Thursday night. After arguing a third strike call in the seventh inning against the Tampa Bay Rays, Chisholm was ejected by plate umpire John Bacon—marking his fifth career ejection, but his first as a Yankee.

The fireworks didn’t end with his walk to the dugout. Chisholm quickly jumped onto social media during the game, blasting the umpire’s call with a post on X that read, "Not even f---ing close." He deleted the post soon after, but not before it caught the attention of fans, and more importantly, Major League Baseball.

MLB’s social media policy is pretty clear: players can’t use electronic devices from 30 minutes before first pitch until the game wraps up, and, just as crucially, they can’t post anything that questions an umpire’s impartiality or attacks their character. Chisholm’s deleted post appears to tick both boxes for what not to do.

After the game, Chisholm told the press he didn’t think his comments before the ejection were enough to get him tossed, though he admitted what he said after being thrown out "probably would have." He also owned up to letting his emotions get the better of him, saying, "I'm a competitor, so when I go out there, and I feel like I'm right, and you're saying something to me that I think doesn't make sense, I'm going to get fired up and be upset. I lost my emotions, I lost my cool. So, at the same time, I still got to be able to stay out there and play defense for my team. That's why I'm here."

Despite the drama, the Yankees walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Rays.

Honestly, if you’re going to risk a league fine by posting mid-game, at least come up with a zinger that’ll be quoted for decades. But seriously, Chisholm’s passion is palpable—and while MLB’s rules aren’t exactly subtle, watching a player’s emotions spill from the diamond straight to the timeline is always a wild ride. Maybe next time, he’ll keep his thumbs as cool as his glove.
