Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has publicly acknowledged the United States for the first time since a heated exchange with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office. In a post on X, Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude, stating, "Thank you America, thank you for your support, thank you for this visit. Thank you @POTUS, Congress, and the American people. Ukraine needs just and lasting peace, and we are working exactly for that."
This statement follows a meeting with Trump and Vice President JD Vance at the White House, which reportedly devolved into a shouting match. The leaders clashed over Ukraine's strategic position and whether Zelenskyy had adequately expressed gratitude to the U.S. It sounds like the tension in that room was thicker than New York pizza dough!
The scheduled press conference was subsequently canceled, and Zelenskyy was observed leaving the White House promptly. According to sources, the disagreement included Vance accusing Zelenskyy of being "disrespectful" for bringing the issue before the American media, while Zelenskyy retorted that everyone faces problems during war, including the U.S. Trump, in turn, told Zelenskyy not to dictate the U.S.'s future sentiments.
Trump later addressed the meeting on Truth Social, stating that Zelenskyy "disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office" and indicated that Zelenskyy could "come back when he is ready for Peace."

It's interesting to see such a public display of tension between leaders, especially given the high stakes involved in international relations. Hopefully, they can resolve this issue, the world peace is so important.
