Former White House aide Ashley Williams stepped into the spotlight on Friday, facing a grilling session by House GOP investigators as part of an ongoing probe into allegations of a cover-up surrounding President Biden's mental and physical health during his tenure. Led by Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., the investigation seeks to uncover whether Biden's closest aides hid signs of decline or if executive actions were taken without his full awareness.

Williams, a trusted figure in Biden’s inner circle, has a long history with the Democrat, dating back to her role assisting then-second lady Jill Biden during the Obama years. Her career trajectory saw her rise through key positions, from trip director during Biden’s 2020 campaign to senior roles in the White House, including deputy assistant to the president and director of Strategic Outreach. Even now, she continues to advise Biden in his post-presidency office.

Despite being subpoenaed last year, Williams initially faced roadblocks from the White House, which GOP investigators claim obstructed their efforts to question her. This time, however, she appeared voluntarily for a closed-door interview, with executive privilege waived by the Trump White House for her and other former aides.
