Ron Klain faces House GOP probe over Biden’s mental fitness and potential cover-up of cognitive decline during his presidency.

Former Biden chief of staff Ron Klain stepped onto Capitol Hill on Thursday for a closed-door interview with House investigators, diving headfirst into a probe that’s got everyone buzzing about whether President Joe Biden’s mental fitness was ever in question during his term. Klain, who served from January 2021 to February 2023 as Biden’s right-hand man, dodged reporters’ questions as he entered the session with the House Oversight Committee.

Under the sharp gaze of Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.), this investigation is digging into a rather unsettling theory: did Biden’s top aides hide signs of cognitive decline? And, even more eyebrow-raising, were executive actions signed off with an autopen without the president’s direct say-so? Comer didn’t mince words, telling reporters he believes Klain, as a key figure in the administration, holds critical insights. He added that Americans deserve to know if Biden was truly fit to lead, especially in the final stretch of his presidency.

The interview, led by staff and attended by Reps. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) and Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), marks Klain as the sixth former White House official to face this scrutiny—and the third to do so voluntarily. Others, including former White House physician Kevin O’Connor and senior advisors Annie Tomasini and Anthony Bernal, were subpoenaed and invoked the Fifth Amendment to sidestep questions. Meanwhile, Biden himself recently insisted he made every decision personally.

Klain’s history with Biden runs deep, from serving as his chief of staff during the Obama-era vice presidency to advising his 2020 campaign. Perhaps most intriguing to investigators is Klain’s reported role in prepping Biden for the June 2024 debate against Donald Trump—a performance widely criticized as a stumble. Rep. Eric Burlison (R-Mo.) laid out the big questions: Did Klain ever doubt Biden’s cognitive abilities? Was the president truly steering the ship, or was he being guided by others?

As this probe unfolds, it’s clear the answers—or lack thereof—could reshape how we view the inner workings of Biden’s administration. Stay tuned as more layers of this political onion are peeled back.

Well, folks, if politics were a circus, this House probe would be the tightrope act—everyone’s holding their breath to see if Klain slips or sticks the landing. I can’t help but wonder if Biden’s autopen got more action than his actual pen. Maybe it’s time we ask if the Oval Office came with a ‘sign here’ sticky note—or a puppeteer pulling strings behind the curtain. Here’s a thought: if Klain’s prep for that 2024 debate was a recipe, it must’ve called for one part strategy, two parts wishful thinking, and a whole lotta ‘break a leg!’
