Brief

Joe Rogan and Tim Dillon critique CNN's approach to news, discuss podcasting's impact on politics, and call for traditional media to refocus on factual reporting.

Joe Rogan and comedian Tim Dillon didn't hold back when talking about CNN's approach to news and its take on the podcasting world. During a recent conversation, Dillon recounted his interview with CNN, saying it was an eye-opener on how legacy media views new voices.

Dillon shared that the CNN interviewer was genuinely surprised he agreed to show up. The interviewer even wondered if Rogan would be upset about Dillon's appearance, to which Dillon replied that Rogan 'doesn't care' in the slightest. Honestly, the idea of Rogan keeping a blacklist of podcast guests is almost as wild as thinking podcasters are running the world from their basements.

The discussion shifted to the 2024 presidential campaign, where podcasts apparently played a starring role in President Donald Trump's election. Rogan and Dillon suggested that the rise of long-form, unfiltered conversations has changed how audiences engage with politics, leaving traditional media scrambling to keep up.

Rogan, ever the straight-shooter, dismissed the notion that he's some arch-nemesis of CNN. Instead, he hopes the network 'corrects course' and focuses on actual news, rather than flooding viewers with personal takes from network personalities. He called out the network for 'force-feeding' viewers people like Don Lemon, making it clear he has no patience for what he calls 'editorial comments from morons.'

Rogan didn't mince words about CNN's plummeting ratings, blaming it on a lack of accountability and a habit of pushing narratives rather than facts. 'You guys lied about so many f---ing things and never corrected yourselves,' he said, a line that probably made more than a few media execs spit out their morning coffee.

Dillon went further, claiming CNN operates as an arm of the Democratic Party. Rogan agreed—though he wasn't sure whether the bias was by choice or design. Regardless, he insisted that he wants CNN to succeed, reminiscing about the days when the network featured shows like 'Parts Unknown.' If CNN turned things around, Rogan said, he'd be tuning in again—no hard feelings, just a hope for better news.

Is it just me or does 'force-feeding morons' sound like a rejected reality show pitch? Maybe next time CNN should invite Rogan to host a segment called 'News or Nonsense.' At this point, the only thing more surprising than a podcaster out-rating cable news is Don Lemon showing up with a Spotify deal.
