A Maryland community is reeling after the grim discovery of a young mother’s body in a wooded area near Cedarville State Forest, with two men—both in the country illegally—now facing charges in her death.
Authorities announced that 24-year-old Keycy Robinson Alexi Barrera-Rosa was charged with the murder of his girlfriend, 23-year-old Lesbia Mileth Ramirez Guerra. Guerra, who was a mother of two, was reported missing on March 31. Barrera-Rosa’s uncle, Rolvin Eduardo Barrera-Barrera, 37, faces charges as an accessory.
Guerra’s body, which had been buried, was found on April 17. The investigation quickly turned to Barrera-Rosa, who was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on April 5 in La Plata, Maryland. ICE confirmed Barrera-Rosa entered the U.S. illegally from Guatemala. Both he and his uncle had prior run-ins with immigration authorities, having been apprehended back in 2019 near El Paso, Texas, before being ordered to appear before an immigration judge.
ICE has since placed a detainer on Barrera-Barrera, who is being held at the Charles County Detention Center, while Barrera-Rosa awaits extradition from Virginia. During their investigation, officials also uncovered fake federal documents linked to Barrera-Rosa—a detail that definitely adds another layer of audacity to the case.
Vernon Liggins, ICE Baltimore’s acting field office director, said this arrest is a “significant step toward justice,” emphasizing the need to remove “egregious illegal aliens” who threaten public safety. Charles County Sheriff Troy D. Berry also expressed his condolences to Guerra’s family, acknowledging the tragedy’s devastating impact on the community.
The tragedy comes at a time when illegal immigration is already a hot-button issue in Maryland. Recent political drama saw Senator Chris Van Hollen travel to El Salvador to support a deported alleged MS-13 member, sparking outrage from victims’ families. Patty Morin, whose daughter was killed by an illegal immigrant in Maryland last year, called the lawmakers’ actions “despicable,” echoing a sentiment of frustration felt by many locals.
While the investigation into Guerra’s murder continues, the case has already reignited debates about immigration policy and public safety—reminding everyone that these issues aren’t just political talking points, but real-life heartbreak for families left behind.

When you need both a map and a magnifying glass to find justice, you know something’s off. Two men crossing borders and boundaries—legal and otherwise—somehow still managed to slip through the cracks for years, only to end up at the center of a tragedy. I’d say the fake federal documents were ambitious, but clearly, the real paperwork failed everyone involved. Sometimes it feels like the only thing more tangled than the forest where this poor woman was found is our immigration system.
