Marcus Jordan, son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, faces charges for cocaine possession and DUI in Florida. He's pursuing substance abuse treatment following his February arrest.

Marcus Jordan, the son of basketball legend Michael Jordan, has reportedly acknowledged challenges related to substance abuse following an arrest in Florida last month. Marcus faces accusations of cocaine possession, resisting arrest, and DUI property damage or personal injury after a dramatic incident captured on dashcam.

The arrest occurred on February 4, when Marcus was driving a Lamborghini SUV. Dashcam footage showed him speeding away from Maitland Police before his vehicle became immobilized on railroad tracks. Officers discovered the tires buried in dirt and rock, suggesting they had been spun repeatedly.

When approached by officers, Marcus appeared visibly impaired, exhibiting slurred speech and confusion. A subsequent search revealed a bag containing cocaine in his pants, according to the arrest report. Marcus reportedly told officers, "Bro, I’m Marcus Jordan. I’m Michael Jordan’s son. I’m not doing anything wrong. I’m just trying to get home. And I made a wrong turn, OK?" While that might work in a basketball game, it didn’t sway the cops.

Jordan’s legal team is pursuing enrollment in a Pre-Trial Substance Abuse Education and Treatment Intervention Program, which they argue will benefit him personally and reduce the likelihood of future offenses. According to TMZ Sports, the program could provide a structured opportunity for Marcus to address his substance-related struggles.

This isn’t Marcus’s first brush with the law. Back in 2012, he pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct and resisting arrest in Nebraska, though a charge of obstructing a police officer was dropped as part of a plea deal.

Marcus, 34, is the second eldest child of Michael Jordan. Despite showing promise in high school and college basketball, he left the University of Central Florida’s program in 2012 and later graduated from The Rosen College of Hospitality Management. More recently, Marcus made headlines for dating Larsa Pippen, the ex-wife of his father’s former teammate, Scottie Pippen. Their relationship ended in 2024.

While Marcus has largely stayed out of the spotlight, this latest incident thrust him back into public view under less-than-favorable circumstances. Whether he can turn this into a moment of personal growth remains to be seen.

Marcus Jordan speeding away from cops in a Lamborghini only to end up stuck on railroad tracks feels like a metaphor for poor decision-making. It’s hard not to wonder how being Michael Jordan’s son shapes expectations—and missteps. This substance abuse program might be his shot at bouncing back.
