Rep. Tim Burchett goes viral for witty responses to questions about a Signal chat leak and Trump's national security team, sparking social media buzz and political debate.

Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., is making headlines after delivering a sharp and somewhat sardonic retort to a pointed question about a recent Signal chat leak that has stirred controversy in Washington, D.C.

In a now-viral video, a young man approached Burchett with a phone in hand, presumably recording, and asked the congressman whether he could "trust Trump’s national security team to keep our war plans top secret?"

Burchett didn’t miss a beat, responding with a zinger: "Do you trust your mother every night to fix your Hot Pockets and make sure your Game Boy is turned on?" The unexpected quip left the questioner visibly stunned, while the congressman briskly walked away.

The Tennessee lawmaker later posted the video of the exchange on X (formerly Twitter), sparking a flood of reactions. Among the replies, Texas Rep. Wesley Hunt, R, chimed in with a succinct, "Savage brother."

Interestingly, this wasn’t the first time Burchett had encountered this persistent questioner. In another video posted on March 25, the same young man posed an identical question about trusting Trump’s national security team. Burchett, unbothered as ever, responded, "I do — but I do not trust your wardrobe adviser." Clearly, this congressman has a knack for mixing politics with a touch of humor.

Burchett’s X account features several videos with what appears to be the same individual, suggesting a recurring pattern of interactions between the two. Fox News Digital reached out to the congressman’s office to confirm whether the man in the videos is indeed the same person, but no response was received as of publishing time, likely due to it being outside office hours.

The Signal chat leak, a security snafu that has sparked broader questions about encrypted communications and national security, remains a hot topic in political circles. But for now, it seems Burchett’s quick wit is stealing the spotlight in this unfolding drama.

Tim Burchett’s one-liners are honestly the stuff of political comedy gold. While the Signal chat leak is no laughing matter, his ability to deflect and disarm with humor is a masterclass in turning the tables. Also, can we talk about the boldness of that young man? Running up to a congressman repeatedly? That’s either dedication or a serious lack of self-preservation instincts!
