Brief

Rod Stewart, 80, stays fit with unique brick-in-pool workouts, sprints, and Sinatra-inspired lung training, balancing health and a vibrant Las Vegas residency.

At 80, Rod Stewart is redefining fitness with a splash—literally. The rock legend has swapped some of his wilder days for a unique regimen, diving into his indoor pool to push a brick across its length, a grueling underwater workout inspired by the British Special Air Service. “It’s really wonderful,” Stewart quipped, admitting some days he’d rather skip it. Alongside sprints on his private track—aiming for a world-record 17 seconds for an 80-year-old—he credits powerful lungs, a tip from Frank Sinatra, for his enduring stage presence.

Despite canceling several shows recently due to the flu, including dates at his Las Vegas residency, Stewart insists he’s not slowing down. “I have no desire to retire,” he declared, still hitting the gym four days a week with running, swimming, and more. Pre-show prep includes voice rest, massages, and a single rum and Coke—no drugs or excess booze here. The “Forever Young” singer celebrated his 80th on a massive yacht, surrounded by family, themed dinners, and even a night where everyone dressed as him. A Lifetime Achievement Award at the American Music Awards capped a remarkable year.

Rod Stewart diving for bricks at 80? Sounds like he’s training to outswim a shark—or at least outlast his flu! Here’s a guy who’s traded ‘Maggie May’ for ‘Mighty Lungs,’ proving you can rock hard and still chase a 17-second sprint. Why’d the brick cross the pool? To keep Rod forever young, of course!
