The investigation into the death of a Super Bowl reporter in Louisiana has taken a dark turn. Adan Manzano, 27, a Telemundo sports reporter from Kansas City, was found dead in his hotel room on February 5, just before the big game. Now, police say a preliminary toxicology report reveals Xanax in his system.

Detective Jeffrey Fitzmorris testified that Alprazolam, commonly known as Xanax, was present in Manzano's body. This detail, according to FOX 8 New Orleans, offers a clearer picture of the events leading up to his death. Kenner police have confirmed this testimony.

Two days after Manzano's body was discovered, Danette Colbert, 45, dubbed the "Bourbon Street Hustler" on social media, was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including robbery, in connection with Manzano's death. Authorities suspect Colbert drugged Manzano and subsequently stole his credit cards.

Police Chief Keith Conley stated that Manzano and Colbert met in the French Quarter in the early hours of February 5, returning to Manzano's hotel around 4:30 a.m. Surveillance footage shows them entering the room together. Colbert was later seen leaving, and Manzano was never seen alive again on camera.

Detectives discovered a missing credit card during the investigation of Manzano's hotel room. Tracking the card's usage led them to Colbert. It's a classic case of following the money, isn't it?

Colbert is also linked to other alleged drugging and robbery cases in New Orleans and Las Vegas. Conley believes she may be connected to another death in New Orleans from December. "We suspect that the investigation will lead to her being involved in another death case... We are working with [the New Orleans Police Department]," Conley stated.

Conley described Colbert as having "a long history of… bringing men into her confidence," leading to them being incapacitated and losing money and property. Police are urging anyone with information about Colbert to come forward, as some victims may be hesitant to speak out.

A search warrant executed at Colbert's address uncovered a stolen gun and narcotics, though the gun doesn't appear to be related to Manzano's death. Colbert may face additional charges as the investigation progresses. Telemundo 39 remembered Manzano as "a true professional and a rising star." What a tragic loss of a young talent!

"We will deeply miss Adan and his passion for sports and the contributions he made to the local community," the statement concluded.
