A rare albino squirrel, nicknamed 'Q-Tip,' has been spotted at Prairie Green Golf Course in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, delighting golfers and local wildlife enthusiasts.
Golfers at Prairie Green Golf Course in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, were treated to a once-in-a-lifetime visitor this week: a super rare albino squirrel, now affectionately dubbed "Q-Tip" by locals.
The pale little critter was seen lounging in a tree near the first hole, soaking up the spring views and, apparently, judging swings with a level of sass only an albino squirrel could manage. Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation officials broke the news, sharing video proof and urging everyone to "keep an eye out" for the one-in-100,000 marvel.
Albino squirrels, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, are instantly recognizable thanks to their pink or blue eyes and complete lack of melanin, meaning not a single dark pigment anywhere on their bodies. The White Squirrel Institute (yes, that's a real thing) notes that the subcellular structures that usually store melanin are, quite literally, empty. So, Q-Tip's ghostly look is all-natural.
The department asked locals to respect the new celebrity's space. "He or she deserves to live a long and happy life in peace!! Please refrain from trying to catch or hunt it down," they added. If you're lucky enough to spot the squirrel, officials suggest tossing a few nuts its way and snapping a photo from a distance—because, let’s face it, this is the sort of story that makes you the envy of your weekend foursome.

Honestly, if Q-Tip starts offering tips on bunker shots, I’d pay for a lesson. In a world where 'rare' often means 'slightly unusual,' spotting a true one-in-100,000 creature is the real deal. Let’s hope South Dakota’s newest furry celebrity sticks around long enough to see the city’s handicap drop!
