Tennessee Titans Put All Their Chips on Cam Ward as Top Pick in 2025 NFL Draft

Cam Ward is officially Nashville-bound. The Tennessee Titans made their move in the 2025 NFL Draft, locking in Ward with the first overall pick after months of speculation and trade rumors swirling around that coveted spot. Despite plenty of calls from quarterback-needy teams, the Titans stood their ground and picked the guy they believe will turn their fortunes around.
Earlier in the draft season, Ward was neck and neck with Shedeur Sanders, but as Sanders' stock slipped, Ward surged ahead of the pack. It’s now crystal clear: the Titans see Ward as the new face of their franchise, and after a rough 3-14 season, you can’t really blame them for wanting a hard reset at quarterback.
This pretty much spells the end of the Will Levis era in Tennessee. Levis, who had his own tumble down the draft boards back in 2023, never quite lived up to the hype, and now finds himself watching Ward take the reins. Hard to imagine a more awkward quarterback room than that one right now.
Ward, meanwhile, couldn't hide his excitement about heading to Nashville. "I got a chance to learn more about the Titans personally over the last couple of months, and I am excited to hopefully hear my name called first, to go to a good organization like that," Ward said to the media. He went on to praise the team's leadership and insisted the Titans have a roster that’s better than most people think. Honestly, with the way the team’s been flying under the radar, maybe Ward is onto something.
He’s already thinking about connecting with Titans stars like Tyjae Spears, Tony Pollard, Calvin Ridley, and Treylon Burks—some serious weapons for a rookie QB. Ward even dropped some not-so-subtle hints earlier this month that he had his eye on Tennessee by calling out those names.
It’s not like Ward is showing up empty-handed. He set the Division I record for most touchdown passes with 158, edging out Case Keenum. Last season at Miami, he put up an FBS-leading 39 touchdowns and threw for more than 4,300 yards, even nudging the Hurricanes into the playoff conversation before a late stumble against Syracuse. He also finished fourth in the Heisman voting and spent two years at Washington State before making his mark in Miami.
Now, with the spotlight squarely on him, it’s time for Cam Ward to see if he can bring some much-needed spark to the Music City.

The Titans have had more quarterback shakeups than a bar during happy hour. Here’s hoping Cam Ward doesn’t just add to the list of ‘what could have been’ in Nashville—and maybe, just maybe, he’ll finally give Tennessee fans a reason to buy a new jersey that isn’t on clearance by December.
