Tragic Loss: British Teen Dies in Beach Sand Tunnel Collapse in Italy

A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded on a beach in Montalto di Castro, Italy, when a 17-year-old British teen, Riccardo Boni, lost his life after a sand tunnel he was digging with his siblings collapsed on him. What started as a playful family day by the shore turned into a devastating loss around 3:00 p.m. local time on July 10.

The Boni family was enjoying a vacation at a resort approximately 70 miles north of Rome. Riccardo and his younger siblings had ventured near the shoreline, digging a hole nearly five feet deep in a quieter stretch of the beach. Meanwhile, their father dozed nearby under an umbrella, unaware of the danger brewing just steps away.
