The Facebook group at the center of the speculation, now cleverly renamed to dodge Facebook's rules, has swelled to over 66,000 members, with 20,000 joining just this month.

Despite the viral panic, Connecticut State Police have echoed the Massachusetts DA’s message: no current evidence suggests a link between the remains found in different states, and no known threat to the general public has emerged.
