World Leaders React with Sorrow and Praise to Death of Pope Francis

The news of Pope Francis' death on Monday sent a wave of grief and reflection across the globe, as leaders from every corner of the world offered tributes to his lasting legacy.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump was among the first to react, posting, "Rest in Peace Pope Francis! May God Bless him and all who loved him!" on Truth Social. Even in moments of global mourning, Trump knows how to keep it short, sweet, and straight to the point.

Vice President JD Vance, who had just met the pope on Easter Sunday, shared his condolences by recalling his recent encounter. "I just learned of the passing of Pope Francis. My heart goes out to the millions of Christians all over the world who loved him. I was happy to see him yesterday, though he was obviously very ill. But I’ll always remember him for the below homily he gave in the very early days of COVID. It was really quite beautiful. May God rest his soul," Vance posted, including a link to one of the pope’s most memorable homilies.
